Flixotide

fluticasone propionate

Product Overview

What is Flixotide:

Fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid, administered by inhalation for the prophylactic treatment of asthma in adults and children.

Flixotide Inhaler Devices:

Fluticasone propionate is available in 3 different types of inhaler devices:

  • a cfc-free metered dose inhaler called the Evohaler,
  • the breath-actuated Accuhaler
  • and the Diskhaler

Nebules are used with a nebuliser that converts the liquid inside the Nebules into particles that can be inhaled allowing delivery of a higher dose of fluticasone propionate than the other inhalers.

Formulations of Flixotide:

  • Accuhaleris a multi-dose dry powder inhalation device with 28 or 60 blisters each containing a mixture of microfine fluticasone propionate (50μg, 100μg, 250μg or 500μg).
  • Diskhaler contains a micronised powder for inhalation at 100,250μg or 500μg fluticasone propionate.
  • Evohaler is a pressurised inhaler containing suspensions, delivering either 50, 125 or 250μg of fluticasone propionate per actuation, respectively.
  • Nebules is an inhalation suspension for nebulisation containing 0.5mg fluticasone propionate or 2mg fluticasone propionate in 2ml of a buffered, isotonic saline suspension.
